Rihanna MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick Swatch, Review, and Comparison!

Finally! What we have all been waiting for and drooling over, Rihanna's first collaboration with MAC Cosmetics has launched!

For those of you who didn't know, MAC Cosmetics has collaborated with the beautiful, Rihanna in a four part collection. The first part was a release of a lipstick, RiRi Woo which was inspired by the most popular (and my personal favorite) " Ruby Woo"

As a huge fan of Rihanna, I was extremely excited about this collaboration as MAC is one of my favorite makeup brands. Rihanna is not only an amazing singer, but she has amazing style. So having them collab was like a match made in heaven!

The funny thing is, a week prior to the news breaking out that MAC was teaming up with Rih, I was having a conversation about who I think MAC should collaborate with and I mentioned that I would love to see MAC collaborate with Rihanna, and BOOM! one week later the news came out and it's like the makeup gods answered my prayers! Be careful what you wish for, right? (at least not in this case!)
The lipstick was available online only and was released MAY 2, at 12 noon. It was pretty nerve wrecking waiting at the computer for the clock to strike 12 and snatch it up! The lipstick sold out in 3 hours. Luckily, I was able to get my hands on one to review for you!

Rihanna stated that MAC's Ruby Woo was one of her favorite reds and she loves that it's such a universal, flattering color, so she wanted to make a red inspired by Ruby Woo that was also a flattering red for all skin tones.

I was pretty excited to see how RiRi Woo compares to Ruby Woo. Was it going to be better? or were they going to look exactly the same?

MAC RiRi Woo
-True blue based red
MAC RiRi Woo
-True blue based red

RiRi Woo's finish is a Retro Matte. This is the first lipstick with this finish to it, compared to MAC's regular matte finish, I would say that Retro Matte is a bit more softer on the lips, as the regular matte finish is a bit more drying and drags when applying.

MAC RiRi Woo

I would describe this color as a true blue based red. In person, its more red and really pops on the lips! you can tell there is a blue undertone to it, but its more of a deeper red than MAC's Ruby Woo. This color is going to look amazing on any skin tone because it is such a true red! It goes on very smooth and creamy, and like most MAC lipsticks, it goes on very opaque and true to color.

Can you tell a difference? Some of you might not, and some of you can tell a difference right away!
When I first swatched them side by side, they looked identical. But on the lips is where I noticed the difference. Ruby Woo is known as a blue based red, but swatched next to RiRi Woo it actually has a bit of a orange tone to it along with blue based. RiRi Woo looks more red and has more blue tones when compared. To some of you that's not a huge difference and you can totally skip out on RiRi Woo because they are so similar, but if you are a lover of reds and a collector, I think this is one you may have to look at. Like I said Ruby Woo is one my faves, but I love that RiRi Woo is more of a true red. They are extremely similar, So if you didn't get your hands on RiRi Woo and never tried Ruby Woo, I would pick up Ruby Woo. Or you can wait till the next launch in June and snatch one up then.

All in all, I'm really impressed with the lipstick and I'm glad to have it in my collection. I think Rihanna did a great job and I can't wait to get my hands on the next collection! I will have a tutorial coming up soon featuring this lipstick so stay tuned!

Did you get your hands on RiRi Woo? If so let me know your thoughts on it!

I hope you enjoyed the review! :)
